Let me tell you the pitch of all bookkeepers everywhere (including me):
I’ll do your boring books for you so that you can focus on what you love. I cost only a few hundred dollars a month—much less than hiring someone full or even part time!—and I’ll save you hours of time every week doing things right, making tax season a breeze.
And they’re absolutely right. If you can afford a bookkeeper, then you probably should get a bookkeeper.
But what I really want is something different.
I want is to help people do it themselves.
There are so many options out there—software, excel templates, add-ons, payroll and sales tax services, receipt management, document management—it’s overwhelming.
You just want to find solutions that are free or cheap, easy to use and work—right?
That’s where I come in.
I love researching solutions. I love finding out who offers what, how their system works, what they cost and how they integrate. All that boring research? I love it. I do it for fun.
So when you say "I just want that something that ___." I know five things that will do that and which one
I'll help you pick the best tools quickly and help you get over the learning curve, getting the best option at a fraction of the time.
You know what else I love? Spreadsheets.
Maybe I've already made the solution you're looking for. Go here to see spreadsheets I’ve already made that you can download for free.
You can also check out Vertex42, which have tons of great business spreadsheets.
All spreadsheets come with instructions and are fully customizable.
First we have an initial conversation for $50.
I can hear it now: Why are you charging for a consultation that should be free?
Because I believe it's possible I can help you find viable solutions in an hour. I'll hear where you're at, recommend products and solutions and if you walk away from that at a point you feel that you want to continue on by yourself - Great! Neither of us have wasted our time.
Starts at $200, minus the $50 initial consultation fee (so $150, after first consultation), depending on how complex we expect the solutions to need to be.
Next, we work together for a few months. During the initial conversation that we decided we want to really dive in, play with the options and figure out a plan, and then adjust that plan as we find out what does and doesn't actually work.
We might:
Try out accounting softwares to find the one you like – I have the subscriptions, so we can demo them together with no risk on your side and someone to help you over the initial ‘how do I do anything’ with each one
Build spreadsheets that you can either manually enter or auto-upload data into
Create custom programs that will do a series of repetitive operations for you
Set up services with 3rd party companies
We can't figure out a solution you can do yourself? Dang.
Next step:
If you just love me, I can be your bookkeeper. I offer Basic to Full Charge services we can discuss as needed during our meetings, OR
I recommend bookkeepers that understand your needs and niche
